The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron

This book helped me overcome self-imposed limitations I had around calling myself a writer. Julia Cameron states it simply when she says, “If you write, you are a writer.” After a few times through The Artist Way I realized that I don’t need an MFA or to be on the best seller list to be a writer or pursue a writing career. I must simply write. I can do that!

On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft by Stephen King

I love the way Stephen King is part teacher, part writer and part father figure in this book. I have listened to the audio book version many times. The biggest lesson I learned is to avoid adjectives and adverbs!
